Teema, the signature series representing Arabia of Finland. A masterpiece by art director Kaj Franck from the mid-century era, this series began with its predecessor Kilta (1952-75) and continued production through the Arabia period and the iittala period. (Teema: Arabia: 1981-2005, iittala: 2005-).

Launched in 1952, Kilta was an epoch-making series that proposed combinations with other tableware, challenging the prevailing aesthetic of “the table should feature items from the same company and series.”

Emerging during the post-WWII era when family structures were shifting, it proposed a departure from traditional tableware styles. Its simple, functional design made it easy to mix with other tableware, and its high storage efficiency quickly made it a dominant series upon release.

Kilta was discontinued in 1975 for manufacturing reasons, but due to popular demand for its revival, it was reborn in 1981 as the successor series Teema, featuring new materials and manufacturing methods. Subsequently, due to business changes, distribution shifted from Arabia to Iittala, and the series continues today with various new variations.
